Back at home, so I celebrated with a 16 mile run at or faster than goal marathon pace (6:35-6:40) for Top of Utah.  Now I know what you're saying to yourself, I bet he could run faster than that.  Well maybe, but suboptimal training and my first road marathon means I'm going on the conservative side to get under the BQ then shoot for sub 2:35 there.

Well the run went better than I could have hoped, the run is basically two parts run up to Chestnut Ridge Park, grab some water and take of some business then back to home on another route.  Going out was in the 6:30 to 6:40 range then once I hit the big hill about two miles from the park the pace really dropped with the rest of the miles below 6:05 and the last three sub 6.  I felt great and this gives me a lot more confidence about running a marathon in two weeks, plus I feel great both like I didn't run 16 miles and the pace hasn't burnt out my legs.

Awesome run! I think if you can hold that pace for a training run you can definitely run faster in the marathon.

Hope you have fun in Buffalo! You get enough beer this time around?

It seems that 2:40-2:45 would even be a conservative goal for you...but I'm sure Allie would be happy if you ran with her to a sub-2:50!

Nice run - I agree that you could probably go quite a bit faster, but if the main goal is to get the BQ minus 10, then it makes sense to play it conservative, finish strong and not destroy yourself.

1:18/1:18 = 2:36!

sounds like a smart plan. i'll be starting around 6:20-6:30 pace and going from there, so if you want to run with me we could trade off using my ellipti-go.

I got enough beer, but the lack of lots of quality long runs has me thinking conservatively. And I would love to have someone to run with Allie and the elliptigo sweetens the deal.

Just sit and kick on allie... the key will be to have a fire extinguisher pre-placed near the finishing chute (maybe Andrea or James can help w/ this)... and then, well, you know what you'll have to do...

andrea can put out your shoes while james attacks you with a fire hose.
